Hi all, first of all I'd like to let you know that I'm not fishing for any of your secrets, You work hard so you keep em :-) I just wanna tell you about my last month or so as a newbie thinking about beginning to arb.

I only have £2000 to play with so was thinking of depositing £100 in about 15 bookmakers and keeping £500 top up fund in moneybookers.

I was hoping to make about 6 3% arbs per day of a £100 limit per arb (not sure if that was realistic as not sure how many arb opportunities present themselves per day also spreading my bankroll very thin so could have a few days of innactivity).

I read lots of blogs and watched a few tutorial videos thinking to myself what have I got to lose its risk free right.

Or so I thought untill I came upon your forum.

It sounds like to me that you can do all your calculations, place your bets locking in your profit and then everything after that which you have no control over is a risk... a major risk.

Are there truly that many horror stories or am I being paranoid?

phew!!! that was long winded.

I still cant make up my mind what to do!

Hi, here my thaughts to your posting:
1) With such a small bankroll you should not spread it over 15 bookmakers. In my opinion 10 is the maximum amount of bookmakers you should choose. Some researches in the internet will help you to find the right bookmakers (for example ranking of bookmakers etc.)
2)Another reason is, if you have odds, which differ dramatically, because one team is the favourite, you need a lot of money at one specific bookmaker. For example an actual arb: Team 1: 1,80, Draw: 3,95, Team 2: 5,98. Here you need a lot of money to bet on Team 1! So you can not spread money over a lot of bookmakers equally.
3) To watch out only for arbs around 3% is in my opinion a high risk. (cancellation of bets, fluctuation of odds during placing the bet, etc. etc.). I am personally doing fine with arbs between 1,5%-2%.

Hope it helped you a little bit!

Thanks for your reply Bavarian, the problem with the bookmakers is which 10 bookmakers do you deposit at as the ones containing the free arbs on bettors-paradise contain mainly scammers as far as i can tell from the forum posts.

I read in one blog that you should allways have money in the bookmakers because you have not got time to deposit everytime an arb comes along. if that is the case then which bookmakers do you deposit your cash in and how do you divvy it out.

so many questions with no specific answer I know but a rough guide would be much appreciated

The bookmakers I would start with, I would select from here: www.sportsbookreview.com (go to the section "recommended list") To Admin: If it is not permitted to post links, please delete it.
About the next point I agree. Time to deposit may be too short. Wish you happy arbing.
